Recent Training: Soundbeam 5 Wed. 9 Nov. 2011 at West Park Centre, Leeds Pamela Ayling led a session on using the newest Soundbeam, Soundbeam 5, to interact and make music with individuals and groups. Pam gave us a basic tour of the controls and learned how to select sounds we wanted to use. The she set up some songs for us and we had a play & sing-along at the end, modelling how we might use this with our own classes. ![]() In the second half we looked at an African drumming project from John Jamieson school: pupils made their own drums, stretching the head material very tight and painting meaningful symbols on the bodies. Then we all joined up for a drumming workshop and took turns playing a huge balafon xylophone. We learned about basic djembe-playing techniques and structuring and introducing simple musical ideas. |
