Multisensory Days and Music Days are days out full of live music and sensory and arts activities, held in the first half of the summer academic term.  Both types of day are based around a theme, which could be from literature, geography, or school topics like space.  Our days feature live musicians who interact with the pupils and accompany each activity.   Pupils from schools all around Yorkshire gather together to participate.

About the events:

Multisensory Day activities are designed especially for non-mobile pupils with PMLD/CMLN.
Music Days are designed for mobile pupils with learning difficulties and autistic pupils with higher needs.

They are:

  • Large-scale, involving 50-70 children from schools around Yorkshire
  • Interactive and adapted to the abilities and needs of the children
  • A live band comprising musicians experienced with working with children with additional needs
  • Meaningful hands-on musical experiences for the children, including a variety of instruments and music technology
  • Immersive environments full of scenery, props and costumes
  • Designed so that activities can be replicated back at school

Last Year:

The 2025 days saw YAMSEN Time Travellers exploring music, sound and dancing through the Vikings, Victorians, rock n roll, the future and even having time for tea in the 1920’s.

Multisensory Online

The 2021 multisensory project ‘A Tree for All Seasons’ happened as the covid pandemic meant we couldn’t gather together in large numbers.  YAMSEN created an interactive video project to support musical learning in a multisensory way in school using everyday objects.
